TGIF. Friday lunch is our favorite time of the week at the Creative Density community.
Friday lunch time is so great because it’s a time for new members to get to know each other. It has literally been the foundation of our community over the last several years. Once that morning hits, people start jockeying for where we should feast.
Everybody votes for the locale of our group lunch (and If you don’t vote, I’ll just suggest SliceWorks Pizza for the great salads or some place with BBQ).
This is a guide to our favorite lunch spots in Denver’s Uptown neighborhood:
Bonus: Lunch combo for a under $10, there is always room for us
Negative: Sometimes it feels too far away, a limiting but delicious menu
Bonus: Great salads, huge slices of creative pizzas, $.40 garlic knots, good beer prices
Negative: Limited seating for large groups
Bonus: Available seating and affordable sushi
Negative: People have to be in the mood for sushi or noodles which can be tricky.
La Pasadita Inn
Bonus: Affordable mexican, two blocks away
Negative: Difficult seating arrangement for groups larger than 8
Bonus: Awesome Kansas style BBQ, good options for vegetarians as well meat lovers
Negative: It’s a bit far away, difficult seating for larger groups
Bonus: Great outdoor patio, a wide variety of American comfort food
Negatives: It can be busy at Friday lunch time and require a wait for large groups
Bonus: Right down the street, a big menu, large patio and fun decor
Negatives: Service and be slow, it’s a compromise space when the group can agree
Bonus: Amazing deli, huge sandwiches, get grab and go
Negatives: Expensive deli, no sitting so you have to take it back
Bonus: Great for vegans, lots of seating, right next door
Negatives: Overpriced, slow service
MOST AWESOME HONORABLE MENTIONS:
Because of where the friendly Creative Density community is situated in the heart of the Cap Hill area, we don’t always get to try out every delicious local spot on the map (also we haven’t tried everything). So, in acknowledgement of this fact, I’m including a list of scrumptious food spots you should talk us into patronizing when you stop by:
Jack’s Uptown Grille is new the uptown area–but it’s already catching great reviews for power green salads, biscuits and gravy, and BBQ sliders. Created in homage to Jack Lockton, the late father of proprietor Steve Lockton, Jack’s is all about “American food that is true to it’s Midwestern heritage, in an upscale friendly environment.”
Featured on Food Network’s Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives TV Show, Prohibition has become known all across Denver as a spot for especially well-made drinks, craft booze, and higher-level bar food. If you get a chance to stop by, be sure to sample their famous balsamic braised short rib burger and/or their bison pastrami sandwich.
Fridays are always such a great day to kick back and at Creative Density, we make the most of them. Any given week, there’s usually a group of ten or so of us that go out and enjoy the friendly bars and eating spots all around.
Recently moved remote workers get to learn the ins and outs of their new city, make friends to play tennis with, and just chit chat about their favorite ski hill or coffee shops with board games.
No matter where we go you’ll have a good time.
Next time you’re around, why not stop by and check us out.
